We watched the Space Shuttle Endeavor launch from atop the Dunlawton Bridge last night. What we saw was a long, thick flame quickly ascending toward space. We could also see when the rocket boosters separated from the shuttle. They looked like tiny white dots in the sky. The flame got very bright right before separation, and then it was gone. About 5 minutes after the launch, we began to hear the sonic booms one after the other. I thought it was very cool, but the kids were equally impressed by a big bug that was also watching the launch from our spot on the bridge, and by William's little blue Croc (which fell off his foot as Will held him out over the railing!!!!) floating down the Halifax River.
